Tom Peterson

Of Counsel

Thomas Peterson is of counsel to Shih IP Law Group, PLLC, and has practiced intellectual property law for more than 40 years. He was Of Counsel at Brundidge & Stanger, P.C. and a partner at Merchant & Gould, P.C. prior to joining the firm.

​

Mr. Peterson has counseled clients in a wide range of intellectual property law matters, including patent and trademark application preparation and prosecution, litigation, unfair competition, licensing and related antitrust and trade matters. During the course of his career, Mr. Peterson has held numerous positions having major responsibility for the patent portfolios of many industry leaders in the electrical and electronics fields.

In addition to advising clients, Mr. Peterson has taught as an adjunct professor at George Mason University School of Law and Howard University School of Law. He has also written numerous papers and articles on various intellectual property law matters and participated in many panel discussions before law and business groups related to intellectual property law.

Prior to entering law school, Mr. Peterson was an engineer at the Packard Electric Division of General Motors. He also worked as a patent examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office before entering private practice.
